Movie Review: The Do-Over

I wanted to turn this movie off several times in the first 20 minutes of playing it, but a deep sense of morbid curiosity kept me going. Once I reached the half way point, I figured I might as well finish it.  There is a whole theory of that -the sunk cost fallacy. Ray explained it to me once and if you’re nice, maybe she’ll explain it again for you guys.
I digress. Actually I’m looking for excuses to write about anything else but this movie. I’ve already wasted too much time on it so I might as well see it through - another example of sunk cost fallacy. #irony
I don’t know what happened to Adam Sandler. He used to make such good movies. Okay,  I take that back. He used to make decent time- pass, remotely funny and entertaining movies. Didn’t he? Or was he always like this and my patience for such movies has fallen?
What happened to him? What happened to Netflix? You would think with the caliber of movies and shows they are putting out they would have rejected this in a heart beat. So what if they signed a multi film deal with Mr. Sandler? Didn’t they have veto power?
I understand what he was trying to do. I mean I get it. I blame the Hangover trilogy for starting this trend of crude, jaw dropping , cringe worthy physical comedies. But we’ve seen so many movies come out in that genre that it’s not funny or shocking anymore - it's just annoying.
This movie though, is like waking up with the mother of all hangovers of the Hangover movies. #hungoverontheHangovermovies
Forced awkward jokes that aren’t funny in the light of day, a plot line that may have had some potential but just seemed like a bad amalgamation of average movies we’ve already seen a million times. If nothing else, you would think Adam Sandler and David Spade would have crazy good chemistry together right? Nope. Zip.zilch.nada.

I could go on, but I won't. If you want to see a cool house in Puerto Rico for 10 minutes then watch it. Or Paula Pattons' cleavage. But otherwise, save yourself.
